Operating in the steel profile segment of the iron and steel industry, Kocaer Steel has been the export champion in the iron and steel sector in the Aegean Region for the last 5 years, with sales revenue exceeding 550 million US Dollars and exports of nearly 400 million US Dollars. In 2022, it ranked 87th in the Istanbul Chamber of Industry's "Turkey's Top 500 Industrial Companies" private sector ranking and 50th in the Turkish Exporters' Assembly's "Top 1000 Exporters" survey for goods exports.
Kocaer Steel, with its portfolio of value-added products, exports more than 75% of its production to 140 countries across 6 continents, offering various types, sizes, and thicknesses of products containing over 12,000 and nearly 60 different quality chemical compositions. Operating in a total area of 280,000 square meters, including 85,000 square meters of closed space, Kocaer Steel is one of Turkey's largest companies in the steel profile segment, with a total capacity of 800,000 tons/year. In addition to its 3 steel profile factories, the company also provides services with a 180,000 tons/year capacity Steel Service Center and a 100,000 tons/year capacity hot-dip Galvanizing Plant, which is a unique facility in terms of integration and LEED certification.
Furthermore, Kocaer Steel owns a 9.2 MW capacity Roof-Top Solar Energy (SPP) facility, which covers approximately 33% of its electricity consumption. This renewable energy infrastructure enables the company to prioritize renewable energy investments in line with its green energy, sustainable production, and consumption strategy.
In 2023, Kocaer Steel initiated seismic and magnetotelluric (MT) surveys as part of feasibility studies for a 24 MW Geothermal Energy Plant (GPP) investment, equivalent to approximately 120 MW of solar energy, in Aydın Kuyucak. To undertake these activities, the company established a new corporate structure called Kocaer Enerji, which is 99% owned by Kocaer Steel and is dedicated to renewable energy, primarily geothermal energy. With this new structure, Kocaer Steel plans to meet 100% of its energy needs from renewable sources, aiming to become carbon neutral and achieve energy independence, providing a significant advantage in international competition.
